Four laser guided Odyssey,
Model 2UL-4, Dual Roller Deck AGVs recently rolled onto the floor
at a major U.S. manufacturer of packaged food products. The AGV System
represents a major building block in an integrated push toward extensive
automation for the manufacturer. The AGVs, capable of transporting
two pallets at a time, feature a TRACE Supervisory Control System,
utilising iCon operating software.
TRACE is PC based and operates
on the Windows® 2000 platform, managing all traffic control and
order management for the system.
|
Pallets travel from production fed stretch wrap locations to multiple
conveyor lines.
As two pallets become available for transport, an AGV picks up the
first pallet, indexes to pick up the second pallet and then delivers
the load to the warehouse, negotiating a 9% ramp along the way. The
pallets are depositied onto conveyors in the warehouse, where they
are retrieved by manual fok drivers and taken to storage.
The AGV System also features automatic battery charging, as well as
SICK laser bumpers. Laser
bumpers emit pulses of ingrared light in an adaptable, predefined
field in front of the vehicle, providing an image of any obstruction
along the travel path. The AGV will slow down or stop until the obstruction
has passed. |
